Who sells to you, how prices and payments work, and how to cancel, return goods or claim for faulty goods. Got sells in Guyana.
Nothing is paid when you send a request. The deposit is paid in cash to Got's representative when you sign the hire-purchase agreement, and every payment gets a numbered receipt. Got takes no payment in the app or on the website.
Who sells to you
Seller
The seller of every product in the Got Shop Guyana catalogue, on gotshop.net and in the Got app, is Valoris Global Inc., a company incorporated in Guyana (Company No. 19622). Your price statement and hire-purchase agreement name the seller as the owner of the goods.
Valoris Global Inc., incorporated in Guyana, Company No. 19622 (company registration number). The street address and telephone number are not yet published on this page. The price statement and agreement you receive before you sign give the seller's address and e-mail; that is where notices go.
Representatives
Got's representatives may sign the agreement for the seller, deliver the goods, receive the deposit and the instalments in cash against a written receipt, and receive a notice of cancellation or termination. The seller is responsible for what they do in its name.
Prices
On gotshop.net every priced product shows its cash price first. The price shown is the cash price and it is the total price: the hire-purchase price, the total you pay over 3 months, is the same amount.
You pay a deposit of at least 25% of the price when you sign, then the rest in 3 equal monthly instalments. No interest, finance charge, service fee or late fee is added (0% APR).
Before you sign, you receive the cash price in writing on your price statement, separately from the agreement, with your deposit and the amount and date of every instalment.
Got is not registered for VAT; no VAT is charged.
Paying
When you send a request: nothing.
Deposit: at least 25% of the price, paid in cash to Got's representative when you sign the agreement, exactly the amount on your price statement.
Instalments: monthly, on the dates in your agreement, paid in cash to Got's representative. You may pay part of an instalment, or more than one at a time; each payment goes to the oldest unpaid instalment first.
A receipt for every payment: each payment gets a numbered receipt (for example GY-RCP-000001) showing the amount, what it paid, what is still to pay and the next due date. It is e-mailed to you and kept in your Got account as a PDF. Ask for the receipt number every time you pay.
Statement of account: your Got account shows what you have paid, what is left and every due date, and you can download a statement of account (PDF). You can also ask in writing: within 14 days the seller gives you a copy of your agreement and a signed statement of what you have paid, what is due and unpaid, and every future instalment with its date.
Paying early: if you pay the whole remaining balance at least one month before it is due, you are entitled to the early-payment rebate of not less than five per cent a year.
Paying late: Got charges no late fee.
Hire-Purchase Act 2022, sections 7 and 28.
Delivery and signing
If your request is approved, Got's representative contacts you to arrange a visit to the address you gave, for delivery and signing.
The representative brings the printed price statement and hire-purchase agreement. You sign the agreement at your door, on screen and on the printed copy by hand, and pay the 25% deposit in cash against a numbered receipt. The signature you drew with your request is for the request only and is not put on the agreement.
A copy of the signed agreement is given to you or sent by registered post within seven days, and the signed copy is in your Got account.
The goods belong to the seller until the hire-purchase price is paid in full; then they are yours. Keep them with reasonable care at your address, and if you move them, tell the seller the new address within 21 days.
Hire-Purchase Act 2022, sections 3(3) and 8; Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 2023, section 4 and Schedule, item 1.
Cancel within 7 days
You may cancel the agreement before the end of seven days starting with the day you sign it. Any words that show you want to withdraw are enough.
Send or give the notice to the seller at the address or e-mail on your agreement, or hand it to Got's representative. A notice sent by registered post counts as given on the day it is posted.
Return the goods to the seller, at your own cost, with the notice or before it; a notice given without returning the goods has no effect. If you have paid money, you may keep the goods until it is refunded. Return them clean and in good working order, fair wear and tear excepted, and pay any amount already due before you cancel.
The money you paid for the goods is refunded. The seller may deduct a restocking fee of not more than ten per cent of the cash price.
Hire-Purchase Act 2022, sections 10 to 13.
Returns and faulty goods
Goods you no longer need
If the purpose you bought the goods for changes or ends straight after you buy them, you may return them within seven days of the purchase, unused, undamaged and in their original package. You may take other goods of the same value instead of a refund. The seller may charge a restocking fee of not more than ten per cent of the price.
Faulty goods
If the goods do not give the use they were meant for and you return them, the seller must, at no cost to you, replace them within 14 days of the return or repair them, or give back what you paid for them. If it repairs them, it must return them working within 14 days or lend you a comparable item until they are repaired or replaced. This does not apply to damage caused by neglect or misuse.
Goods different from their description
If the goods are different in an important way from how they were described, you may return them for a refund of the price.
To return goods, e-mail orders@gotshop.net or write to the seller's address on your agreement.
Consumer Affairs Act 2011, sections 21 to 23.
Warranty
Manufacturer's warranty only, as stated on the product packaging, if any. Your rights under the Consumer Affairs Act 2011 are not affected.
The same statement is printed on your agreement.
Ending the agreement, and missed payments
You may end the agreement at any time before the last payment by written notice to anyone entitled to collect the payments, returning the goods at the same time or before. You pay any instalments already overdue. A notice without the goods has no effect.
Nobody may enter your home or premises to take the goods back.
While less than 70% of the hire-purchase price is paid, the seller cannot take the goods back without your consent unless it first gives you 21 days' written notice; if you pay the overdue instalments within those 21 days, the agreement continues. This protection does not apply if you have ended the agreement yourself or broken it in a way other than missing a payment.
Once 70% or more is paid, the seller cannot take the goods back without your consent unless a court orders it.
Hire-Purchase Act 2022, sections 5, 6, 23 and 29, and Part I of its Schedule, which is printed in full on your agreement.
